Go to Top The Conference

It was 17 March 2014 and Diana was to attend a conference in Birmingham. The plan was that I was to share the driving to Birmingham, accompany her at the pre-conference dinner the previous evening, and then spend the conference day exploring the canal network around the city centre while she was at work.

Luck was on our side, as although chilly, it was a bright dry morning. After both having a full English breakfast, Diana got ready to join her colleagues and I set out from the hotel to find my way to the towpath on the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal.

The Premier Inn Hotel

As Diana went to join colleagues at her conference, I set out from the Premier Inn to find the towpath.

My plan was to join the Aston Flight about half way up and walk the towpath to Aston Junction, then continue to the Farmer's Bridge Flight, before making my way to Gas Street Basin.

My report was to follow but having amassed almost 60 photographs it seems better to split them into three sections:
